What Makes a Good Blog?

Well, what does make a good blog?  Ultimately I feel that substance makes a good blog.  What is the blogger conveying to me?  Blogs that contain information, whether useful to me or not, meet the purpose and goal of a blog.  As stated in "Blogs in Plain English", blogs provide information for a variety of consumers.  Blogs can enhance my existing web presence by creating an avenue for me to obtain useful information outside of my general area of work.  In other words, my knowledge base can be expanded by networking with other professionals from all over the world.  Meeting professionals from a neighboring district is not the only way to network, and very outdated.  One aspect of blogs that make them very appealing to users is the ability to self-publish them easily.  I was able to set up my own blog in a matter of minutes, and ready to publish my thoughts within seconds.  The ease of publishing a blog brings us back to my first point.  Because blogs are a quick and easy way to post information, it can be easy to  miss the point of blogging.  Good blogs provide readers with substance, not empty filling.

  1. Bill,

Great approach to blogging this is important to keep in mind. We all have something to say and an audience to say it to. But we also have to be aware of others and what they have to say. Staying connected to others is so key in our world today to stay on top of what is going on in the field of education.
